Investigations on policy based automated provisioning for wireless differentiated service networks

Abstract

Policy-basedAutomatedProvisioninghasrecentlybecomeawidelyemployedandpromisingsolutionformanagingenterprise-widenetworksanddistributedsystemsthatincludewiredandwirelessnetworks.Thisresearchaimstoproposeandimplementapolicy-basedmanagementframeworkforWirelessDiffServNetworks,andtodemonstrateitsapplicationforQoSmanagement.Thisresearchhasaddressedthefollowing:•APolicy-basedArchitectureforWirelessDiffServNetworksisproposed,withpolicyextensionstoQoS.•AnServiceLevelAgreement(SLA)forbothwiredandwirelessnetworksforeffectiveservicetradingbasedonpoliciesalongwithanefficientDirectoryManagementandProvisioningtoefficientlystoreandretrieveinformationaboutobjectsrelevanttoaparticularapplicationorsetofapplications.•Efficientarchitecturesforpolicyprovisioninginrouterswithasimplespaceefficientdatastructureforrepresentingasetinwherebothtimeefficiencyandaccuracyarecritical.Policyextensionstotransmitprioritydataenforcedonrouters,asimpletextreductionschemeisalsoaddressedsupportingshortmessageservices.•ADistributedSubstringAuthenticationProtocolforauthenticationinwirelessanddistributednetworks,and•PolicybasedQoSProvisioninginreal-timeusingclassbasedapproachesandimplementationfeasibilityusingnetworkprocessors.
